Making Steel causes over 7% of global CO2 emissions. By producing Green Pellets or HBI using natural gas or hydrogen, the emissions in current and future steelmaking processes can be reduced. Current technology can reduce emissions by 65% using pellets and HBI.  Solid state electrolyzes can produce H2 and Green CO which can make iron using current technology. Pure Hydrogen alone cannot  viably produce usable iron but still features in proposed steel plant projects.
